centered thoughts

HEALth and HEALing

Health is literally a state of mind. (Mind is beyond -- but uses -- the brain.) One who thinks healthy thoughts becomes healthy in due time. (Healthy thoughts are those in accord with the Universal heartbeat.) Of course, that may take years or lifetimes; but do not be discouraged for there is really nothing we can do but live each moment that we see before us, in the most selfless manner possible. (Altruism puts us in sympathetic vibration with the Universe.) Disease, therefore, is ultimately a process of liberation from wrong thinking. (Accordingly, only those who use the power to heal [helping others realize wrong living] for the sake of their fellow being - taking and seeking no personal reward - can manifest a permanent change from dis-ease to health.) Be healthy, selfless, and altruistic. (Be a part of the cure.) -- PNT

The Oath

I swear by Apollo Physician, by Asclepius, by Health, by Panacea, and by all the gods and goddesses, making them my witnesses, that I will carry out, according to my ability and judgment, this oath and this indenture. To hold my teacher in this art equal to my own parents; to make him partner in my livelihood; when he is in need of money to share mine with him; to consider his family as my own brothers, and to teach them this art, if they want to learn it, without fee or indenture. I will use treatment to help the sick according to my ability and judgment, but never with a view to injury and wrong doing. I will keep pure and holy both my life and my art. Into whatsoever houses I enter, I will enter to help the sick, and I will abstain from all intentional wrong-doing and harm. And whatsoever I shall see or hear in the course of my profession in my intercourse with men, if it be what should not be published abroad, I will never divulge, holding such things to be holy secrets. Now if I carry out this oath, and break it not, may I gain forever reputation among all men for my life and for my art; but if I transgress it and forswear myself, may the opposite befall me. -- Hippocrates the Physician

I give cookies and other food to friends during lunch if they are having a bad day. -- Carl, 4th Grade

Everything that is is an opportunity of the percipient eye and the understanding heart to learn, which means to grow; and when you realize that suffering and pain are two of the means by which we grow, then come peace in the heart and rest to the mind. -- G. de Purucker

All life is continual destruction and healing, over and over again. -- Deng Ming-Dao

We deceive ourselves in thinking that we give all to the child when we give him air and food. Food and air are not enough for man's body: all the physiological functions depend on the well-being, and that is the only key to the whole of life. So also the child's body lives by the freedom of the soul. -- Maria Montessori

Water which is too pure has no fish. -- Ts'ai Ken T'an

Disease is in essence the result of conflict between Soul and Mind, and will never be eradicated except by spiritual and mental effort. -- Dr. Edward Bach

A painting of a rice cake does not satisfy hunger. -- Ancient Saying

If one placates great anger and yet there remains anger: how could this be good? -- Dao De Jing

Man's main task in life is to give birth to himself. -- Erich Fromm

Disease of the body as we know it, is a result, an end product, a final stage of something much deeper. Disease originates above the physical plane, nearer to the mental. It is entirely the result of a conflict between our spiritual and mortal selves. So long as these two are in harmony, we are in perfect health: but when there is discord there follows what we know as disease. -- Dr. Bach

Each particle -- whether you call it organic or inorganic -- is a life . . . Life is built up by the sacrifice of the individual to the whole. Each cell in the living body must sacrifice itself to the perfection of the whole; when it is otherwise, disease and death enforce the lesson. -- H. P. Blavatsky

"It is not my will but the will of my father in heaven." -- Jesus Christ (Your 'father within' or 'higher spiritual Self' -- listen to It in the silence!)
