love, Love, LOVE

There are many types of love. There is selfish personal love, there is brotherly Love, and there is divine, spiritual LOVE; to name but a few. One often confuses the different types, mistaking one type for another. One must be careful in all that one does; that one acts in the proper aspect of love. The closer one can attain to the higher aspects of LOVE, the better, for it raises the others in some degree to its lofty heights. Center yourSelf in unSelf-ish divine LOVE. -- PNT

Love thy neighbor, even when he plays the trombone. -- Jewish Proverb

I am inclined to believe that the most beautiful thing in the world is love, that love which is the very cement of the Universe, because it is the flowing forth of the permeant light, the Christ-light or Buddhic Splendor at the heart of the Universe: that love which, working in gods and men, teaches us to know beauty when we see it, especially inner beauty, to recognise greatness and splendor in others, from knowing the greatness and splendor in our own inmost being. Only greatness can understand greatness. Love, which teaches self-sacrifice -- and self-sacrifice is perhaps the second most beautiful thing in the world -- love, I say, is the holiest thing in the Universe. -- G. de Purucker

Our poor world needs healing. We, all together, as One whole life, suffer much from all sorts of heart-wrenching illnesses. The cure has been no secret to us, but has been so sorrowfully lost. It is simply, LOVE. -- DM

Love thy neighbor as thyself. -- Second Christian Commandment

Many things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life's heart. -- Kahlil Gibran

Physical attraction is a sensation - here one minute and gone the next. Love is a relationship. -- Eknath Easwaran

Universal Brotherhood is impossible without love and charity. And these must be universal, not merely particular or special. It is the fulfilling of the law. It is solely this universal love that moves the Masters of Light to give the world any aid in high ethics and philosophy...being full of love for the poor orphan Humanity, they desire us to grow where They are. Should we not...imitate the noble example to the limit of our ability and opportunity? -- W.Q. Judge

Random acts of kindness, no matter how small, make a difference. -- Marne, Age 12

When wisdom has been profitless to me, philosophy barren, and the proverbs and phrases of those who have sought to give me consolation as dust and ashes in my mouth, the memory of that little, lovely, silent act of love has unsealed for me the wells of pity; brought me out of the bitterness of lonely exile into harmony with the wounded, broken, and great heart of the world. -- Oscar Wilde

Abide in faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. -- I Corinthians 13:13 The softest thing on earth overtakes the hardest thing on earth. -- Lao Tzu

Love lies in the soul alone, not in the body. -- The Prophet

Without charity the outward work profiteth nothing; but whatsoever is done of charity, be it ever so little and contemptible in the sight of the world, it becometh wholly fruitful. For God weigheth more the love out of which a man worketh than the work which he doeth. -- Thomas À Kempis

Perfect love casteth out fear. -- St. Paul

Sex is not love. It is not even human love. By no tolerable liberty with any system of definitions can it be described as divine love. Sex is one of the personal means by which the consciousness of love may be either experienced, blasphemed, or betrayed. -- Talbot Mundy

Love one another, as I have loved you. -- Jesus of Nazareth

Light for the mind, love for the heart, understanding for the intellect: all three must be satisfied in every man before he has real peace. -- Dr. de Purucker

"Stick with love, because hate is too great a burden to bear!" -- Martin Luther King, Jr.

Love, the master of life. -- W. Q. Judge
